Quartz
Mac email client for Gmail whose on-device AI sorts mail by importance and drafts replies in your voice.
Quartz is a Mac email client for Gmail, in public beta, whose AI runs on your Mac to sort every message by importance and draft replies that sound like you. It is free for beta users, and its terms say paid plans may be introduced later, with any fees disclosed in advance.
About Quartz
Quartz sorts every message by an importance you define, learned over time: important mail gets the room it deserves, inbox items stay scannable, and FYI, Icebox and Noise collapse out of the way. To reply, you give Quartz a few bullet points, and it drafts in your cadence, phrasing and level of warmth, using what it learns about the way you write, your relationship with the sender and the context of the thread.
The model that sorts the inbox and drafts replies runs locally on your Mac, and the homepage says classification and drafting run on Apple Silicon only. Quartz says your mail is never uploaded, that there are no servers that could read it, that mail is encrypted on your device with keys only you hold, and that the app is CASA Tier 2 certified under Google's Cloud Application Security Assessment.
The privacy policy describes an optional mode, off by default, that sends message text to a third-party AI provider whose credentials you supply. During the public beta the app sends product analytics to PostHog tied to the email address you connect, which cannot be turned off in the app; the policy says message content, subject lines and contacts are not sent. Quartz is a product of datarockets, and its policies name Red Panda Technology Inc, of Ontario, Canada.
