Perplexity Projects

Perplexity's shared workspaces for files, instructions and connected apps, now called Projects.

What is Perplexity Projects, in two sentences

Spaces are now Perplexity Projects: shared workspaces holding searches, Computer tasks, files, instructions and connected tools, with existing Spaces migrated automatically. Projects work in Perplexity Computer, which Pro offers with expanded access at $17 a month and Max with maximum usage at $167 a month, billed annually.

About Perplexity Projects

Perplexity's blog calls Projects an evolution of Spaces: hubs for long-running work in a shared Computer workspace, with a shared, persistent file system and a Brain that learns from your work. Existing Spaces migrate with their threads, files and history, and Projects add connected apps, team collaboration, Computer Brain and automations on top of the same surface.

In a Project you can upload files or whole folders, add files from connected sources, write instructions of up to 8,000 characters, set the default mode and model, prioritise web links and domains, and add reusable skills. Brain studies the Project's files and sessions between tasks and updates what it knows, so a new task starts from earlier context.

Projects are private by default, and on personal accounts only invited people can view them; Enterprise plans can also share a Project with the whole organization. Members are owners, editors or viewers, and a Project can have up to 5 contributors, or 9,999 if the owner belongs to an organization or is a verified student or educator. Inviting someone gives no access to your memory or connected accounts: every task runs under each member's own credentials.

Perplexity says Projects work across web, mobile, desktop, Slack and Microsoft Teams; typing /project in a Slack or Teams channel binds it to a Project. Projects connect to Google Drive, Slack, Notion, GitHub, Linear, Snowflake and 400+ other tools, and Mac and Windows users can add local files and folders through the desktop app.

  • Existing Spaces carried over without a manual rebuild.

Cons

  • On personal accounts Projects are always private, with no organization-wide sharing.
  • Pending invitations and invited viewers count toward a Project's contributor limit.
  • Files added from connectors are one-time copies that do not update when the original changes.
