Ask Photos
Google Photos' AI search — ask in natural language to find specific images across years of memories.
Ask Photos — Google Photos' AI search — ask in natural language to find specific images across years of memories. Uses Google's Gemini AI to interpret natural language queries against your photo library.
About Ask Photos
Ask Photos is Google Photos' AI search that lets you find images by asking in natural language across years of your library.
It uses Google's Gemini AI to interpret queries and search your Google Photos history for specific people, places, or events. It works on iOS and Android inside the existing Google Photos app, so there is no separate app to install.
It suits Google Photos users, including beginners, who want to find photos by describing them instead of scrolling. It is a poor fit if you are outside the US or don't use English, since the initial rollout was US-English only, and it needs a Google account and Photos library; storage past the 15 GB free tier requires a paid Google One subscription.
As a mobile-app feature rather than a standalone product, Ask Photos is tied to the Google Photos app instead of working across other photo libraries.
